Celtic Cowboys is proud to announce that Austin will be the host city for the 2015 Irish Hurling All-Star exhibition & the North American County Board Convention this December. This event will take place over the course of 6 days between the 10th and 15th and will include numerous opportunities to participate in the festivities.
The headline event during the visit being a hurling match between the 2015 and 2014 All-Stars, played on the grounds of the prestigious St. Edward’s University (map). Following the games, please join us at The American Legion – Charles Johnson House for dinner.

Austin TX Mayor Adler preparing for the Hurling All-Stars arriving in Austin this December
Hurling is the national game of Ireland and is believed to be the world’s oldest field game; it is also thought to be one of the fastest games in the world. Bearing similarities to field hockey and lacrosse, the game is renowned for its high pace and skill-level. Predominantly played in Ireland, the game has won fans all over the world due to its speed and intensity.
The sport’s governing body, the Gaelic Athletic Association, in collaboration with the Gaelic Players’ Association, select the best player in each of the 15 playing positions at the end of the annual Irish Championship season, together known as the “All Stars”. In recent years, the All Stars have played exhibition games as far afield as Shanghai and Buenos Aires, and later this year will be the first time that the team travels to Texas.
The headline event during the visit will be a hurling match between the 2015 and 2014 All-Stars, played in the grounds of the prestigious St. Edwards University.
